the transfer window

the big scramble,looking for those few special late signings that might make all the difference, and turn a group of individuals into a flourishing team

its the time of year when all the early decisions made mid summer or with winter approaching come to life in deliveries...and then the rush, usually in the wind and rain, to get the trees planted and the seeds started off in the polytunnel



but its also when you can see the gaps, forgotten ideas and new opportunities, and the midfield addition that hasnt quite paid off...and you take pot luck with suppliers, unsure whether youll find 300 or 3 of what youre after to chose from

its a peculiar pleaure, but i love this time of trying to track down one last spice bush, a particular edible bamboo, or realising that there just isnt the time to put enough of the pieces together, again, to start the forest garden
